Michael Hughes Joins T. Bailey to Spearhead Exciting New Chapter

Published 12:00AM 1 June 2009

Boutique fund-of-funds manager T. Bailey is pleased to announce that former Baring Asset Management CIO Michael Hughes is to join the board as a Non-Executive Director.

Hughes began what turned into an illustrious career in investment as an economist for the BP Pension Fund. Having established himself at de Zoete & Bevan, BZW Securities Ltd and then Barclays Capital, he was snapped up by Baring Asset Management. In 2000 Hughes became CIO, having already headed up its UK and European Investment Management Team.

His appointment marks a further strengthening of the T. Bailey team, for which recent changes include the recruitment of Bryan Zemunik as Fund Accounting Manager, Mark Wright as an Investment Analyst and Philippa Gee as Head of Marketing & Communications.

Commenting on the recent appointments, T. Bailey Chairman Nicholas Forman Hardy said: “These are very exciting times for T. Bailey. Our clients are used to getting the very best service and the recruitment of these talented individuals will mean that we can offer them even more. We are delighted that Michael Hughes has joined us, bringing a wealth of investment experience to the boardroom table.

“At a time when the challenging economic backdrop has forced many financial services companies to cut back on staff, we are taking the opportunity to improve and strengthen our team so that we have the very best people on board for this important year.

“We have also repositioned the portfolios to better serve the needs of private investors and Independent Financial Advisers and to continue to deliver the exceptional standards for which we are known.”

Hughes said: “Having worked with T. Bailey for several years, I know that the company is dedicated to excellent service and high calibre results. Consequently, the decision to take on the role of Non-Executive Director to the board was an easy one.

“I am honoured to be joining the T. Bailey team at this important time and look forward to working with the board to enhance the T. Bailey offering.”
